A Griefers Guide to Pocket Kingdom
[Introduction and Controls]Your Situation
You've inherited a pocket kingdom, but that's about it. A newbie pocket kingdom starts poor, unprotected, and offline on the map of Elynotis. The lab is locked, your kingdom isn't mobile yet, and you have no defenses. To top it all off, the guy who gave you the kingdom sold most of the loot for RL dollars and you've only got 10k to start. This can be fixed though.
Welcome to Pocket Kingdom
Your first view of the game, after the introduction, will be the main menu. Only three buttons will be accessible from the beginning (Party, Shop, and Map), although the fourth and final option, the Lab, will appear after you complete the first area.
PartyControls
Because Pocket Kingdom is designed around using parties to attack or defend other kingdoms, you'll probably be spending a lot of time in here designing new groups, adjusting tactics and equipment, and doing general maintenance. Choosing the Party option opens a submenu which will allow you to access your current parties (Form), view your current items and units (List), and set up your kingdom defenses (Defense). The Defense option will not be available until you complete the second map. If units are injured, you will also be able to give them Medical attention.
Shop
On each map you'll find a shop that sells ore, molds, jewels, and some basic units. These items vary between maps, so if you're looking for a particular item you may need to move to a different area to get it. Shops will also purchase items from you, at a lower value than they're worth - because you're limited to 250 items, you'll probably be making frequent use of this feature. Shops are also the only place you can obtain molds to create items - all other items can be found by scouting an area or defeating an enemy.
Map
Other than forming parties, the bulk of the gameplay takes place on the map screen. Switching to the map changes the view to the local area, giving options to Search for other kingdoms, Attack kingdoms that you've located, Move to another area, or get Info on the current location from your Fabbis. Attack isn't available until you've located another kingdom, and Move will not be possible until you complete the first map.
Lab
Available after completing the first area, the Lab will be invaluable in your progress. You can use it to Combine raw materials into equipment for your troops, and to RankUp your troops into new and more powerful forms. The Lab also contains the Vault, which holds key game items safely, and options to Upgrade your kingdom, which can be used to customize your appearance to other players as well as increase the defensive options available to you.
For the most part, the directional pad and the 5 and 7 buttons are the only ones used - think of it as a two-button game controller, with 5 being 'OK/Select' and 7 being 'Back/Cancel'. The OK button (or clicking the directional pad on the original N-Gage) can be used identically to 5. Either of the two selection buttons below the N-Gage screen can also be used to bring up the game options menu, which will allow you to adjust the volume or exit the game.
Your Fabbis
Although you're set off with nothing, you won't be completely alone. You're also joined by a Fabbis (short for Fabulous Assistant), a sprite-like creature with a wealth of knowledge about the world of Ulgress and all thing relating to Pocket Kingdoms. Every time you enter a new area she will helpfully give you some information, and she's always available to tell you everything she knows (via the Info option on the map screen). Your Fabbis will also give you a brief tutorial on each section of the game menus as you go into them, let you know when your defensive party is injured, and occasionally insult you for good measure.
